We recently had occasion to make a claim with VOCAT for loss of wages due to an assault in the workplace. VOCAT offered a lawyer to assist in the process with 3 options to select from. Thank our lucky stars we chose Arnold Thomas & Becker in Bendigo as they have been fantastic to deal with. I think we were especially lucky to be allocated Jessica Cooke as our lawyer for several reasons. Jessica has a great understanding of the process and explained things very well. Her attention to detail was thorough and the way the complex information was gathered and presented showed amazing skills. Our particular case was not straight forward as information from the employer was difficult to decipher. Do not be Fool highly Dangerous to your legal file with no win no fee contract , I move my Common law file behind my acting lawyer James Richardson from large 2 Firms to Arnold Thomas & Becker Lawyer and I Have 3 contract of same lawyer from different law firms based on his advice. Just a few weeks before trial in 2019 the acting lawyer has cease to act and left voice msg on my mobile that the acting barrister QC wants 6k a day Court in advance and cannot act with NO win NO fee bases. Later I came to know he is leaving and had left a Notice of resignation to ATB he had recovered his costs from insurance before ceasing to act in court legally. My case is still hanging in County court for Justice trial and due to damages to legal file by ATB lawyer NO new law firm is willing to take the case yet as a result of damaged caused. Keep in mind no law firm will take your case if someone cease to act like my file and don't be fool with LIV (trap). Credible evidence( witnesses ) was also not interviewed and were not contacted before cease to act and I am hitting busy by bush as self-litigant fighting with OVIC and VicRoads to find their last know addresses in 2024 for my trial for pain and suffering only. in 2024 I dropped my economic part and taking only pain and suffering as per ATB and ACT barrister advise last advise. Anyone don't have healthy shoulder to carry 20 boxes of legal file after premature cease to act from this law firm and happy to eat 20 tables of Anti-depression as like other 1000 of 500 Australian are on Anti- depression due to flaw in Legal system along with failed work cover system which let IAG group to play with serious injury Charter right act and enjoy 79% shares earning in 2024. I would suggest not going for Arnold Thomas & Becker as your choice of law firm.

Do not be fooled. Even if you partially "win", expect to be robbed of most of what you earned. The service was good, but not worth $70k which is what they charged me (solely for service) without even going to court. They were reimbursed by the insurer $100k for all the doctors expenses and reports also. I found this out later of course. Essentially they pulled 1/3 of my compensation. They NEVER, hinted that service alone would be such a ridiculous amount. Be warned, everyone will benefit except you. They are suited vampires and they will leave you in the street when they're finished with you. They made $170k off of my tragedy and hardship

I approached Arnold Thomas & Becker Lawyers after a high recommendation. My mum had a road trauma accident and was never going to be the same person, left with serious injuries. A daunting process initially for many reasons. Legally, emotionally our entire family was impacted and having the right people represent mum was important. This was about more than compensation, this was about mum's legacy that needed a voice in amongst the endless medical reports, treatment and assessments. I suffered a serious Personal Injury from an unscrupulous Cruise company (Uniworld) who dismissed my claim in the most infuriating off-hand manner.

It appears that all Uniworld staff who were aware of my accident and injury have been convinced to deny any knowledge - and nobody at Uniworld could give a toss!

Because of nasty surprises buried in the fine print of Uniworld's draconian Terms & Conditions, the case became complex and virtually impossible to pursue in Australian courts, because the injury was not sustained in Australia but in France.

After investing an enormous amount of time, and even consulting with a Barrister on my behalf, Special Counsel, Sara Kaurin provided me with a thorough assessment and a referral to a law firm in an overseas jurisdiction, the only one in which the case can be pursued.

You can take to key things from this review:

In my opinion, it appears the minion lawyers are instructed to communicate with the managing partner/s during medications to pluck a client costs figure based on a % of expected settlement. Be weary, client-solicitor costs are made up on the fly, rather than as per initial cost agreements. Advice to potential clients, is to request a itemised legal bill of costs from this mob, and take to the Victorian Costs Court to justify such. This racketeering crew need an inquiry from the legal services commission. Unfavourable reviews appear suppressed by way of threats - welcomed. Steer well clear in my opinion. E grade, don’t make this firm your first preference.
