When looking to engage professionals it is always important to ensure they are experts in their field and have a thorough understanding of what you require and, in the case of lawyers, the laws that impact your need for them. That is exactly what you get with Lovegrove and Cotton. Many years of experience combined with a continued, and unwavering, passion for construction law, and industry as a whole, is why they remain one of the leading construction law firms and why I personally have, and will continue to, recommend them to those in need of legal advice and assistance.
This firm is without peer in construction law - Lovegrove wrote the Building Act 1993 (Vic) and continues to lead - for 30 years now!

Lovegrove and Cotton Construction and Planning Lawyers have been at the forefront of construction lawyering for 30 years. The founder Professor Kim Lovegrove was a key advisor on the development of the Building Act 1993 and helped shape modern day building regulation in Victoria.
The new generation of construction and planning lawyers is headed up by practice manager Tsigereda Lovegrove and Justin Cotton. Tsigereda, Justin and the team will build upon the history and momentum of the firm to continue to position the firm at the forefront of construction lawyering in Victoria, NSW and the ACT.
In my opinion the number 1 construction law firm in this jurisdiction. I have known both Kim and Justin for close on 20 years and during that time I have seen their personal and professional growth. My association with them has been as a regulator and more recently representing the regulated. Renowned in Australia and internationally.

Lovegrove and Cotton have consistently contributed to humanitarian causes, particularly in Ethiopia where the firm supports a children's orphanage. They are a dedicated team who support justice in both the legal and humanitarian arena
Great team and very helpful staff
I have recently been a client of Lovegrove Solicitors who I engaged to act on my behalf in a partnership dispute.
I found my solicitor Stephen Williams and barrister Stephen Smith to be knowledgeable, professional, hard-working and compassionate. They stuck with me and got the job done.
Whilst I hope that I will never require the services of a law firm moving forward, should I ever find myself in this position I will have no reservations in contacting Lovegrove Solicitors again.
We were charged $200 for a 'file setup fee' by a paralegal, which apparently takes 1 hour according to the bill. Though we signed an agreement apparently with this inside, this was never explained to us before signing as we have never been charged a file setup fee by any other lawyer at this high a price, especially since all that was setup was spending 5 minutes taking our details down and putting it on a sticker. We did not even provide any documents or other paperwork to be even photocopied or filed.
Advice was ok, but I will definitely not be coming back here again. $200 for an empty manilla folder with our names on it is rather rich. Caution for those wanting a plain simple consultation as you'll be hit with this fee on top of the lawyers hourly rate.
